Derek Whitaker

Derek is the brother of JJ's good friend and fishing buddy, Brad Whitaker.  Derek gave us a great deal on clearing, grading, hauling, installation of silt fences, drainage pipes, and gravel.

Prestige Lending - Kyle Jarman
6512 Six Forks Road, Suite 301-B
Raleigh, North Carolina 27165
919-847-1414

JJ met Kyle at the YMCA during early morning pick-up basketball games.  Kyle worked with us to help secure a construction-perm loan and gave us a significant discount on closing costs.

Jarco Supply
100 AG Drive
Youngsville, NC 27596
919-562-0123

JJ's father does business with Jarco.  It turned out that  Jarco owner Matt Jarrell lived just around the corner from our old house.  Matt provided us with concrete pipe and silt fencing at his cost.  Matt also recently built his own house, and has been very helpful by providing recommendations to us for different subcontractors.

Durham Rebar
2066 E Lyon Station Rd
Creedmoor, NC
919-528-8333

Durham Rebar donated the reinforcing steel for the footings, columns, and basement walls for the house.  Durham Rebar is owned by Reggie Venable and Jim Farrell, JJ's dad.

Door Store USA
8732 Glenwood Ave.
Raleigh, NC 27617
919-781-3200

This place has beautiful entry doors, and William is great to work with.  In addition to the 10% builder discount, he also threw in mahogany interior casing for free.  He also spent a lot of time walking me through the finishing process they use so that I can hopefully achieve the same results when I finish the door.

Buck Martin

Buck is Graysen's "boyfriend's" father.  He also happens to be a good friend of ours.  Buck helped me get started on my first tile project.  Since he had installed a few tile floors, he decided I might need a few pointers!

Blair and David Otts
Elizabeth City

Blair is Rachel's father and David, her brother, is a Resident Engineer with the NC DOT.  Blair helped JJ flag the house layout on 8/6 in preparation for the excavation.  In his spare time, David surveys for people building houses in Elizabeth City.  David and Blair helped JJ pin the corners of the house on 8/13.  David was very thorough and did a great job.  If you are in the Elizabeth City area and need someone to locate your house, give David a call.

Keith Garry

The Garrys are friends of ours that we hang out with often.  Their daughter, Alyssa, is a member of Graysen's close circle of friends.  Keith works for a company called SoDeep.  Keith helped JJ locate the corners (hopefully for the last time) after work on 8/16 so that the forms  for the basement walls could begin being installed on 8/17.  It took us a little longer than expected, so the last few corners had to be set with the help of Keith's truck's headlights!

In January, Keith helped me a couple of nights.  The first night, he helped tape the windows before painting.  The second night, he helped with the painting.

Chad Sorrell

I used to work with Chad at AT&T.  Chad is also building a house right now.  He and I have been helping other out with different subs and deals we have found.  Chad brought his tractor over one weekend to help move some dirt for me.
